Preparing for the Table Tennis Annual Meeting

As part of my volunteer work as head of the table tennis department at NTSV, my first annual meeting is scheduled for May. So far, I've been among the few people from the department who've even shown up. Now I'm the chair for the evening and must ensure that all positions are filled and that we remain operational.

Thanks to my training as a club manager and the communication and leadership module, I've picked up some ideas on how to make my life easier. The most helpful tip is to call the current office holders in advance. This allows me to clarify whether they'll continue to hold their positions or, if not, whether they know someone they think would be suitable. This has led to many friendly conversations, and I know the positions will be filled before the meeting.

Cross-posting to LinkedIn

I've set up my blog to publish my articles on LinkedIn with the intro text automatically. The mobile version displays my OG image. In the desktop version, the post with the website preview is without an image.

The missing image significantly impacts visibility, with the flood of articles and posts piling up on the LinkedIn timeline. I've tried every option to get LinkedIn to display it:

  • Correct aspect ratio of the image (16:9)
  • Not too large (<5 MB)
  • Appropriate file format (JPG or PNG)
  • File extension in the OG image URL according to the file format
  • Pre-made image that doesn't need to be created
  • No special characters (alphanumeric characters and dashes)

It's driving me crazy, but I can't make it work with N8N. Manually creating an article with a link to my blog works. But that's not an alternative.

Persistent and sticking with it

This week, I found it challenging to stick with my running challenge. A handful of personal appointments came up on Thursday and Friday afternoons, leaving little or no time for running. The same thing happened on Sunday. I hope this will provide a recovery break leading to more energy because I can only manage a maximum of a 6-minute pace on my laps. I feel like I can barely move, and even during a short 5-km run, I can't pick up the pace anymore.

  • Monday 11 km run.
  • Tuesday 12 km run + 1.5 hours of fitness.
  • Wednesday 14 km run.
  • Thursday 1.5 hours of fitness and a break from running.
  • Friday day off.
  • Saturday 12 km.
  • Sunday Forced break due to personal activities.

The best for last: Double promotion

Saturday was incredibly exciting. The NTSV men's first team played against rival HSV in the relegation playoffs at Sachsenweg at 2 p.m. and won 9-1. Their second game was against the favorites and potential relegation team from the 2nd State League, Urania. With a mammoth performance, the team, reinforced by two women, won 9-4. Then it was 8:45 p.m. ... and the score was 1-1 in another game. The penalty save turned things around, and the second promotion of the day was complete. Nur der HSV!
